About
Who? Charmed by curiosity Kittie is both ‘funny ha-ha’ and ‘funny peculiar’. A psychologist-turned-entertainment specialist she writes, performs and produces whimsical theatre and contemporary cabaret. Lauded by both comic and glamour luminaries for her playful satire, exuberant vitality and sharp wit, she addresses all ages using differing comedic methods. With quirky panto-style chic and feline mischeif, she entertains the thespian majority as ‘Kittie Klaw’ and children as comedy cat heroine, ‘Kittie Mittens’.
Mission: A dainty figure of derring-do, she provokes the raising of eyebrows promoting the beauty of individuality, the importance of perspective and the power of absurdity in successful self-expression – often addressing gender sterotypes and archetypes.
Producing national sell out variety shows she also nurtures the self-confidence and performative power in others through a unique personal coaching system – see Purrfit. Also considered a key figure in the British burlesque resurgence, she is the founder of the inclusive Ministry of Burlesque.
“Totally Hilarious”
Ben Elton
“A committed, diligent writer and sparkling storyteller.”
Karen Gregor, Producer – BBC R4
“Visionary. Her shows are an elegant masquerade of the past and an homage to taste and irony.”
La Repubblica Delle Donne, Italy
“Absolutely fascinating… possibly one of the most intelligent people I’ve ever met in my life.”
Katie Martin, BBC Radio Solent
An elegant eccentric* she can in other hours be found at large in the avant-garde(n) planting queer seeds in the sun, magic beans in the moonlight and taking tea with taxidermy at twilight.
* An eccentric, a model of impropriety if you will – and no stranger to scandal, accidentally. However, any tabloid scoop pertaining to acts of ‘bawdiness’ have generally been founded entirely on misunderstanding and lexical mishap. As one might say: “Tabloid Journalism: It’s a read herring”.
